Tell us a little about yourself
Lisa: I worked as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) for St Elizabeth Healthcare and Medical Priorities. In 2019 I obtained my Medical Office Administration Diploma and I also have a certificate in Human Resources Management.
Rudy: I have extensive business experience as an Operations Manager with a great rapport with my employees. My passion manifests in enthusiasm but my calm and positive demeanour is what keeps my team working in harmony.
Lisa: Together we strive to provide a holistic environment to the communities we will be serving by ensuring the care of our community (client and staff alike) equally through Happier Aging and our People Promise.
Why did you choose to start a Nurse Next Door franchise?
Nurse Next Door aligns with our personal values, goals, and ethics. We chose this industry because we have a passion for helping people. Ultimately our goal is to expand to several territories and spread our energy, vitality, and excitement to the people of Southwester Ontario.
We want to be a part of a company that is all about disrupting the home health care industry and we’re excited to showcase that effective and essential home care is possible for everyone.
What need is there for home care in your community?
Hospitals were overwhelmed even before the added stress of Covid-19. The lack of appropriate funding has led to a gap in care leaving the most vulnerable people without reliable and appropriate care.
Most people don’t want to be in a hospital longer than they need to be and would prefer to convalesce at home. It’s safer on so many levels. In our community, the choice to stay in their loving homes where they’ve created their routines is where they want to be. No one should have to choose between their personal health or giving up their autonomy.
What does Happier Aging mean to you?
No matter what physical limitations people may experience as they age, they should never feel that they cannot still enjoy life. Happier Aging means that age should not impede our goals. Best of all, Happier Aging means we at Nurse Next Door can provide this avenue for our clients and be a part of an amazing journey with them.
